We have been importing wines from all over the world since 2004. Every label in our portfolio has been selected by our brand’s founder and owner, Robert Mielzynski. Takie powiedzenie krążyło kiedyś w Gdańsku, a dotyczyło kultowych rurek z kremem sprzedawanych w malutkim okienku na Długim Targu. Czemu „raz na rok”? Bo była to wyjątkowa przyjemność, trochę odświętna, a trochę stały punkt programu wycieczek do Gdańska.
Wybierzmy się w podróż po historii najstarszego alkoholowego trunku w dziejach ludzkości. Mowa tu oczywiście o piwie. Gdy tylko człowiek nauczył się zbierać i przetwarzać zboże by wypiec z niego chleb, byliśmy już o krok od przygotowania piwa.
Sery to typowe produkty dla koneserów. Podlegają surowym wymogom wobec użytych składników, produkcji, no i oczywiście smaku. Nikogo nie dziwi, że każdy gatunek ma swoje kryteria, które musi zachować. Zaskakujące jest jednak to, że wszystkie produkowane dziś rodzaje sera były już znane w czasach nowożytnych, a ich receptury zostały jedynie unowocześnione.
Wbrew pozorom zaskakująco dużo! Ten egzotyczny owoc zapisał się na kartach gdańskiej historii, i to nie tylko kulinarnej. Ale jego przeszłość nie ogranicza się tylko do jego przygód w grodzie nad Motławą, dlatego przyjrzyjmy się trochę temu słodkiemu gagatkowi trochę bliżej.
O walorach smakowych raków nie trzeba nikogo przekonywać, a mimo to bardzo niewiele z nas raki kiedykolwiek samodzielnie przygotowywało. I choć w Gdańsku wciąż pamięta się o daniach z raków to mimo wszystko daleko nam do poziomu ich spożycia sprzed 200 czy 300 lat.
Spór trudny do rozstrzygnięcia, szczególnie że obie rybki wzbudzają totalnie skrajne emocje. Co zaś nie uchodzi historia obu łączy się nierozerwalnie z historią kuchni i kształtowania smaku. Każda z nich nieco inaczej się kojarzy i to po dziś dzień.
Cytryna to owoc tak powszechny i znany, że łatwo zapomnieć iż jest to roślina egzotyczna. Przywędrowała do Europy z Dalekiego Wschodu. Dokładna historia początków jej uprawy jest ciężka do prześledzenia, ale naukowcy przypuszczają, iż już przed 4000 lat uprawiano cytrusy na zboczach Himalajów.
Chorować nikt nie lubi, dlatego proponujemy sięgnąć po wiedzę i mądrość przodków, zachęcamy do wypróbowania cudowne remedium, znane od XVI wieku „zdrowie w płynie”, z bardzo ekskluzywną metką cenową. Zbyt piękne żeby było prawdziwe? Niestety, ale tak.
Któż by pomyślał, że tak prozaiczne danie jak zupa może wywoływać tak skrajne emocje. Ze świeczką szukać osoby, która nie ma wyrobionej opinii na jej temat. A owa opinia jest zdecydowana, nie ma tu stanów pośrednich: zupę owocową albo się kocha.
Fakt, że historia lodów zaczyna się w starożytnych Chinach nikogo już chyba nie zaskoczy. Deser, ponoć, do Europy trafiły w średniowieczu za sprawą słynnego podróżnika Marco Polo, ale historia lodów wcale nie jest taka prosta!
No właśnie, czym? Zaraz obok tortu migdałowego jest to pierwszy, najbardziej kojarzony z Gdańskiem deser. Ale nie dajmy się zwieść na manowce jego nazwą i przyjrzyjmy się dokładnie co składa się na anatomię gdańskiego mleka.
A jak do tego doszło, że to nierodzime warzywo zagościło na polskich stołach? Czy naprawdę zawdzięczamy to królowej – Włoszce Bonie Sforza? Niektórzy może poczują się zawiedzeni, ale niestety, sprowadzana z Włoch królewska „włoszczyzna” zdecydowanie nie była nowością dla polskiego dworu.
